Actor Irrfan Khan has passed away at the age of 53. Khan is widely known for his iconic roles in movies such as Maqbool, Paan Singh Tomar, Talvar and Hindi Medium. But apart from an illustrious career in the Hindi film Industry, Khan was also known for his international projects.
This movie revolves around how the aftermath of the 9/11 tragedy opens the floodgates of prejudice against the actor. A man trying to achieve the American dream but faces problems because of heritage. He is hunted down by authorities and is the prime suspect in a kidnapping. Due to which, his American-ness and patriotism are constantly questioned.
The Namesake movie in hindi
Fox Searchlight, Mirabai Films, Cine Mosaic, Entertainment Farm, and UTV Motion Pictures produced The Namesake, and the clips you heard in this episode are credited entirely to them. Fox Music and Rounder Records released its soundtrack, and Nitin Sawhney scored the movie.
In 2006, The Namesake was adapted into a film directed by Mira Nair by the same title. As movie adaptations of books go, the film adaptation is very faithful to the novel. Of course, watching the movie is not a substitute for reading the book: A number of details are lost or changed to make the story fit within the film medium.
Hindi cinema's kissing has often been sloppy. and that's where Maneesh Sharma's Band Baaja Baraat scored over other films. Starring two relative fresh actors from the YRF stable (Ranveer Singh's first film and Anushka Sharma's third film), Sharma managed to mine this moment in a way where it never looked manufactured. Bittu (Singh) and Shruti (Sharma) have really hit the big leagues in their business, it's turned into an all-night rager. One by one everyone leaves the office, as a medley of YRF's biggest dance hits keep playing in the background. At one point, there's only Bittu and Shruti, who seem drunk beyond their wits. Shruti extends her neck and buries her face into Bittu's chest. They hug, and just like that they kiss. In a place, where moments like these have usually been inter-cut to cross-pollinating flowers, lightning strikes and other such visuals, this one's fairly straight forward without necessarily appearing contrived. To both Singh and Sharma's credit, they manage to leave behind their movie star (who are they dating?) baggage, and immerse themselves into the reality of Shruti and Bittu. The scene is treated in a very matter-of-fact way, much like how both Shruti and Bittu treat it in their own respective lives. Long before it became popular, this was the first indication of a 'new India'.
This is probably the closest I will ever see to my own story taking place in a movie. I am a first generation Indian-American, son of two immigrants. My dad, who initially lived here, also went to India, got an arranged marriage, and moved back with his wife, my mother. We also live in New York City, just like the movie shows, and I also have a younger sibling, who coincidentally, his name is Nikhil. This will be the closest I could ever see to my own family in a movie.
A lot of B-town celebs have tried their luck in Hollywood including Deepika Padukone, Priyanka Chopra, Anil Kapoor and many others. But Irrfan not just won hearts through Bollywood films but also starred in Hollywood movies like' Inferno', Life Of Pi, and others. With his stellar performance in 'Life of Pi', he became quite a big name in Hollywood too.
If Jazbah had Suhel Khan singing alongside different singers in every song of the album, Sagar Desai has gone one step ahead and given every song in Straight to a single singer, Suraj Jagan. At least the credits section has mention of only Suraj Jagan as singer. And when you see Suraj Jagan in the singer list and rewind to his previous songs, Johnny Gaddaar from the namesake movie and Zehreele from Rock On!!, the expectations from this album shall have been set already, that of a rock album. To the album then.
I loved having a whole Indian team working together with Danes, Germans and Swedes. The actors have been amazing the whole time; I love all of them. You do get very close to each other in an intense creative process such as making a movie. Maria Mozhdah who plays the leading role is a really amazing girl. There is something simply extraordinary about her. We had such an amazing chemistry on set that at times I even forgot she was only 17.
